Magadheera turns into a smashing hit.. What next?

Hey all.. I have not been active on my blog for the last few months as I was working on a couple of projects. One is Magadheera, a movie produced by our company – Geetha Arts. The movie released recently and turned out to be a smashing hit. Its one the way to become the highest grosser in telugu cinema, showcasing the revenue potential of the industry. The production of our next film, will hopefully begin in January 2010. That will also be a big-budget telugu film.
The other is an a “pet project” I have been working for the past six months. I have this ‘sentiment’ like most people working in the film industry. If I announce something while the work is in progress, something goes wrong. Hence, though I am excited I am holding it back. Its something to do with South Indian cinema, though not a movie exactly. I will reveal the details soon, most probably in 2-3 weeks. I am giving the final touches to my new baby.
I usually, try to keep my personal banter to the minimum on my blog. I am looking for a topic, on which I can research, add my perspective and share with you guys. I have some free-time now. So that should again be something you will read here soon.
In the meanwhile, stay tuned to me occasional tweets on : http://www.twitter.com/allusirish

Hi Sirish,
I just came to know that Arundati had been released in Blu ray version. I guess it might be the first South Indian film to be released in Blu ray ? Os is it first Indiam film? Hope you have more information on this. Anyway I dont expect that all th etelugu films will be released in blu ray versions, as it is very expensive and it takes quite a lot of time to have blu ray players in mass market and also buying a full HD telivision is still a luxury. So buying a blu ray with out an Full HD plasma telivision ( I say Full HD plasma, as LCDs are not still up to the mark in black levels) will not give the desired experience. But having said all this, I proudly say that telugu film industry has produced a movied that is worth watching on Blu ray – Magadheera. I still encourage to release it Blu ray abroad as buying a full HD is not a luxury and may be in limited number sin India, as DVD sales would be the prime source. As someone suggested releasing a Blu ray abroad, before releasin a DVD might be a good idea!
Cheers!!
Hi Sirish
As Diana suggests, i think telugu movies like Magadheera if released with English subtitles can reach a wider non telugu audience (i’m lucky that my mother tongue is telugu) in India and especially overseas for eg: Dubai which is a home for thousands of Indians(non telugu) where they are really keen to watch telugu films as they are just getting bigger and better. I realised this within 6 weeks of relocating to Dubai recently. I lived in London last 6 yrs and there are so many telugu people living there, but in Dubai i don’t think there are as many as in UK or US so i think the subtitles idea will definitely work out here(especially with so many keralites living here who are excited to watch telugu films)!
BTW i never knew you do so much research on this industry until today where i accidentally came across your blog. Anyway i felt amazing to discover your blog and i appreciate it.
Gang.
Hi Sirish Bro,
I hope as you mentioned, you are going to release Magadheera in bluray very soon(Feb or March), but try not to embed the watermarks of Bluray makers like Sri balaji, which looks horrible while watching it on high definition. Also why can’t you people start your own production of Blurays(Atleast for your releases) as YRF(Yash raj) doing in Bollywood. Because you people have the production values equals to YRF. We proud of that. But also please think of bluray production. Never have a thought of market, Technology is changing, people starts buying bluray, if the desired movie is in that format, as DVDs did once from VCD. Sorry for my english, I’m not good in this. But I hope you understood my concern.
Sirish,
MAGADHEERA is a stupendous movie and has taken telugu movies to a greater and higher level. I live in Los Angeles and share the same concern as many. Telugu movies released here “MUST/SHOULD” have sub-titles as i see a lot of the audience in the theater are Non-Indians who are interested in Indian movies but to make it entertaining for them and with that a larger market for our telugu films makes utmost sense and am sure you will be considering that in near future.
I saw magadheera 4 times and am still waiting for the Blue ray that was announced. You are doing an excellent job and being a role model to many..please make sure the quality of the blue ray is at its best or else the purpose itself will be lost. Will be looking forward for the release of Magadheera Blue Ray.
Wishing you to set a benchmark for production values and making of remarkable movies like magadheera in future and anticipating another hit soon…
